How we compare
Every fact on these pages about another budgeting app is taken from that app's own published pages, linked beside it and checked on a stated date. This page sets out where the facts come from, what a blank cell means, and what these pages deliberately do not do.

One rule covers the whole section: a statement about another app comes from that app's own published pages, and nowhere else. In practice that means its pricing page, its help centre or knowledge base, its feature pages and its store listing.
The app's name in every table links to the page the row was read from. The date the row was checked is printed on the page, and it changes only when a check has actually happened.
We do not take facts from other people's reviews or roundups, and we do not take them from memory. If a claim cannot be traced to a page the vendor publishes, it does not go in the table.
What does a blank cell mean?
A blank cell means not documented. It does not mean the app lacks the feature. Plenty of apps do things they have never written down, and a table that treated silence as absence would be wrong about them.
Where an app publishes two different answers on two of its own pages, which happens more often than you would think, we cite the more authoritative page and say on the page that the two disagree.
What do these pages not do?
- No score, no stars, no rating. Nothing in this section rates another app, and we publish no star rating of our own anywhere on this site.
- No winner. No page names a best app, ranks the options or orders them by preference. Tables are alphabetical.
- No claim about another app's security or privacy. We describe what an app documents about how it connects, and stop there.
- No testing of another app's bank connection. We cannot hold anyone else's bank connection, so where a connection is involved we report what that app's own help pages say it asks for, with the page and the date.
- Both directions or neither. Every page that says what Keep Above does also says what the other app does that Keep Above does not.
- No banks, cards or lenders named. This site does not name, rank or link to a bank, a card, a lender, or the services that connect apps to them.
Why do we publish this at all?
Keep Above works differently enough from most budgeting apps that the phrase "budgeting app" on its own tells you very little about whether it would suit you. It has no bank connection, it keeps no spending history, and it asks you to enter each bill and your income once and then keep your balance current now and then. Those are design choices with real costs as well as real benefits, and the fastest honest way to show both is beside the apps that chose otherwise.
The alternative, describing ourselves in isolation and leaving you to work out the rest, is not more modest. It just moves the work onto you.
Our comparison, not a review. Everything here describes what each app's own pages document, on the date shown. It does not weigh one app against another on your behalf, and it takes no account of your circumstances. Nothing here is financial advice.
Keep Above
Keep Above is a budgeting app where you enter each bill and your income once, and keep your balance current now and then. From that it works out the balance you would need to cover everything coming, and projects your balance and your sinking funds — which it calls reserved funds — forward. No bank connection.
